After eating a late lunch, my family and I went to the mall. It was a mistake. We should have left before we arrived.
The first sign that it was not a good idea was that our cell phone reception started lagging as we got close to the mall. I was watching the Arsenal game on my phone but was unable to finish due to the poor cell phone reception.
Then, the traffic to get into the mall ring circle was an omen. I initially thought that the traffic was there for the recently opened In and Out. I was wrong. The traffic was for the mall.
Luckily, we were able to find a parking spot close to the front of Nordstroms. Inside the mall, it was chaotic. We went to buy shoes for a friend in Cuba. There was only one person in the shoe department and about ten people waiting to be serviced.
We were fortunate that a sales representative from the men’s department helped us get the shoes we wanted. My wife wanted to go to Starbucks. My sons and I walked around the mall. We walked into a GameStop that looked like it was going out of business. It was full of people with little merchandise.
We then walked around to the kiosks to see the toys. Kids and toys. Even after receiving more than their fair share, my sons wanted more toys. It was a firm no from me.
We circled back to Starbucks. My wife was still in line. Not like the next person to have her order taken, but like sixth in line. I told her that we should leave the mall because the boys were upset that they were not getting any toys.
We headed to a Starbucks outside the mall. My wife went in while the boys and I waited in the car. It was still a twenty-minute wait for her to come out. With that we hurried back home.
